It is time to revisit the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Matthew Tkachuk—selected #6 overall is third in scoring with 137 pts in 179 GP, and with 85 assists he leads his Draft class in that category. For the 2018–19 season when a high number of these players will become RFAs he leads all 2016 draftees with 40 points in 35 games (but that owing to the fact that Auston Matthews has played only 20 games). Tkachuk's 1.14 pts/GP is second only to Matthews, and he sits a full 10-points ahead of #2 pick Patrik Laine. No one else is even close.
Tkachuk is not the best players from his draft class, but he is sure making a case right now that he is better than all the rest picked in 2016.
