It would be a shame to have a great season only to see goaltending kill everything in the playoffs. Plus, Mike Smith has negative value, but if we upgrade goaltending, we have to send that salary somewhere. And we are not getting a younger proven goalie for anything less than a ransom.
I also think this team could risk losing Brodie more than they can risk going into the playoffs with uncertain goaltending. Not to mention, Brodie could be one-and-done after next season and it's not exactly a secret that Giordano elevates his game.
