It's valid in the sense that he has every right to believe it if he wants, particularly the part if he thinks the architecture is ugly - that is absolutely his opinion and valid in that respect, as architectural preference is subjective. I don't agree with it, as I think it is uninformed; I also don't agree with his building envelope comment, as that is just flat out wrong.
However, that doesn't mean you can't be a decent human being and be respectful of his opinion in the process.
