And I would wager Dustin Byfuglien and Nick Leddy were pretty good at ice hockey when they were Chicago Blackhawks, but like Hanifin/Kylington/Andersson/Valimaki have not displaced Giordano/Brodie/Hamonic they did not displace Keith/Hjalmarsson/Seabrook. They also made the decision to move out an excellent defenseman in Campbell and arguably never recovered, eventually filling his spot with Oduya but never quite being as good as they were with Campbell in his prime.

Three seasons to be played before expansion. A lot will change by then. The last expansion was in 2017 so going back three seasons the equivalent would the 2013-14 Bruins moving out Brad Marchand to make room for Ryan Spooner because of expansion / Marchand just being a product of Bergeron. See how silly that sounds?

Are you suggesting that we re-sign both Hamonic and Brodie to long term deals? Are you suggesting we let them walk to free agency? I don’t want to trade anyone right now but think we absolutely should trade one of them (Brodie) this summer. Once we either start letting our core players walk to free agency or overpay them for their early mid-30’s we start making it tougher to keep our good young players.
I also put Hanifin right there with Hamonic/Brodie
