This weekend as the Flames solidified their grasp on the Pacific Division and served notice to the NHL that they were a force to be reckoned with, all I could think of was
this historically embarrassing article penned by smug Mark Spector in 2017 when the Oilers looked poised to make the playoffs for the first time in a decade:
