Well, JG will be 29 when his next contract begins to take effect. At that point he has to be the final piece for a Stanley Cup contender, so either the Flames will be in the thick of it and you entertain re-signing him for his declining years or you trade him when he is 28. I would call him as a kind of Guy Lafleur like player in terms of his career trajectory as a winger and his impact on the game, Guy peaked at 28 and then began to decline(no longer an all-star) although still a very effective NHLer for another 4-5 years.
