Default DLP question

My 46" Toshiba DLP blew up on me this morning, so I called Futureshop where I bought, and then they told me to call Toshiba. So I did, and because of my warranty, I was able to pick up a free replacement bulb for it this morning. I just installed it, and there appears to be almost like a figure 8 on the screen, as if it's burned in or something. It's hard to see unless it's on a white background, but it definetely wasn't there before.

Toshiba warned me not to touch the glass of the bulb, so I didn't, but this mark makes me believe there is an unnoticeable mark on the glass of the bulb somewhere. Is it safe to try and clean this? Or should I just try and get a new bulb again?
