That was not my argument. The original post talked about Jankowski playing 50% of the defense against McDavid as Backlund does. I really don't think Jankowski is going to be any worse than Backlund in a shutdown role. He is not half the defensive forward as Backlund. I like Backlund and think he is a great player. I also think he is definitely overrated by Flames fans.
That being said, they will still both look like clowns a few times every time they play against the Flames.
As for shots, yes I would rather take 1 breakaway than 20 shots at the goalies chest

Backlund has shown that he is this teams best defensive centre. It is safe to assume Jankowski will have difficulty filling his role, especially vs McDavid. Backlund is regarded league wide as a top two way player, he has been in the selke conversation before. So not really overrated by Flames fans.
As for shots hitting the chest? Where are you getting that from? The shot metrics that were referred to count all shots, not just muffins to the goalie’s chest
