I can use your exact logic to argue that Andrew Mangipane should feel like a "dumb ass" who "failed to create a safe situation" because he missed a wide open net in the first period. After all, all other things being equal, that would have also made it 3-0. Hell, I could likely use your logic to make any player on either roster out to be the bad guy. Which only underscores how absurd your position is.

Lol, you guys can be so dramatic.
Mangiapane wan't in a situation where him scoring the goal puts the Wild away and the rest of his team can safely coast for the rest of the game. Monahan was, and I'm sure he fully understood the context of his situation. He made his decision in that moment, it didn't just happen in a bubble separate from the rest of the game. I'd hope in the future he remembers this and chooses to just put the game away instead, that's all I think he should do and have consistently stated as such.
