Hanifin could have scored too. He panicked a bit and shot before getting any open ice. IIRC Ryan had a chance at the empty net. Backs could also have just fired the puck out instead of skating it. Johnny shouldn't have gone offside. Smith could have let one in (in which case its a one goal game and Monahan is more selfish about shooting).
