This is totally and completely wrong. Everything is related in a chain of events. How many times have you seen a goal scored when moments earlier a player had a chance to clear the puck down the ice? If Monahan scores that goal it's 100% positive that the Backlund situation as it went down last night does not happen. However with the change of events maybe another Flames player gets injured in a different play or the Wild score a goal but if Monahan scores the empty net goal there's a faceoff at center ice and things play out differently. It's crying over spilled milk at the end of the day because what happened, happend but if Monahan really needs to put the game away with the empty net in front of him.
