I've just been on the Wiki page and seen that too. My thought was 'what on earth does Seattle have to do with the Kraken?!', so I went to check it out.

I mean, I know a lot of the other teams in various leagues have names that don't necessarily relate to their (sometimes previous) location, but as far as I know, no other team has a mythical creature as their name.

Edit: I guess the Giants and Wizards. But at least they have connotations to sports, i.e. 'He's a giant of a man', or 'Allen Iverson was simply a wizard with the ball'. Do we need to bring Hasek out of retirement to play for Seattle before we can finally exclaim 'Ah, well I guess he DOES flop around like a giant squid, yeah...'
