If a person misses time due to injury, their salary still counts.

Just because he sat out and will play less games, he still receives $6.77M in salary for this season. It is what it is.

If I make $100,000 in a month, I can tell myself that it is $1.2M per year pro-rated, but that doesn't make my bank account any bigger.
