Loblaws is Superstore. Loblaws tried their hand in Western Canada a few years ago, but the negative vibe from Western Canada to a Eastern Company's product ran Loblaws out in Western Canada. Safeway tried to monopolize the market by putting a Safeway in every community (especially new communities), ie. spatial entry barriers. When Safeway was limited to their spatial monopoly, Loblaws made a comeback into Alberta under the new name "Superstore" and was a hit to the mom's buying bulk. Save-on-Foods decided to then enter the market, and Safeway's profits plummetted as they became the new 7-11, ie. people would go to Superstore or Save-on-Foods for their major purchases, and Safeway is the one you stop by on your way home for a loaf of bread.
