Havent been over to HF for awhile and thought Id drop in on the Oil thread...found these beut's in the Hitchcock incoming thread.

Go look at Ryan Nugent Hopkins also an example of a player that focused way too much on "2 way hockey" and now has very little creativity in his game. He was way better of a player as a rookie before that nonsense got drilled into his head.

It's absurd to blame McDavid for any shortcomings with the Oilers, but he could definitely improve his two-way game. With his skating ability, mind for the game, and ability to strip pucks, he could have a Fedorov-esque two-way game. He's still appreciably better defensively than most other elite scoring centers, though (Bergeron, Barkov, Kopitar, and maybe Crosby, even though his two-way ability gets exaggerated, notwithstanding), but he's got such immense talent that he could easily be in that elite tier.
