Ya, well maybe that had more to do with giving away Leddy and Teuraveinen and giving out expensive contracts to older players such as Seabrook and Bickell.
There was enough talent on that team, and cap room to keep them... they just chose very poorly.
True point, the excess cap hit to Kane and Toews diminishes the room for error in making those choices, but that team could have still been very good with a more disciplined decision making process.
