I just don't know that the thought of "getting confidence back" actually plays out that often. Maybe it's the quality of player. IMO Dube is no Poiriet or Shinkaruk. But there's a real risk of getting mired down there. It certainly did nothing for Sven. And Dube is no liability up here either.

I think that even with Backlund saying that, taking off his Flames jersey was something he decided he never wanted to do again. Just like the Flames played with that much more confidence last night after taking it to the Oil the game before. So much of everything you do is mental.
That being said, I hope it's just a dip in the pond. A month or less would be ideal. I think it'll only take a few games of top-6 minutes (another huge reason the send-down has benefits) before he starts putting his name on the scoresheet. Regaining the belief that you're not snake-bitten or that you're not good enough goes a long way.
YMMV of course. Some players never get that re-call for a reason.
