BTW, Backlund was quoted as saying not making the Flames in 09-10 out of camp was hard on him, though he worked hard in the A, and he only got his confidence from being called up to the NHL. Then he never looked back (albeit he went to the AHL after the Flames missed the POs to help out the Heat).

I just don't know that the thought of "getting confidence back" actually plays out that often. Maybe it's the quality of player. IMO Dube is no Poiriet or Shinkaruk. But there's a real risk of getting mired down there. It certainly did nothing for Sven. And Dube is no liability up here either.
