I don't think learning to score at an AHL level does that much frankly. The goalies are sub par, the defence is sub par, and the Flames who get sent back and light it up don't seem to do any better when they return.
Can you name an NHLer who went down and came back up much better? To me, once in the NHL, improvement seems to come by playing NHL hockey against NHL goalies and D. I can see starting in the AHL if you just don't have an NHL game yet and are still growing. But Dube has more NHL game than anyone down there, and 3-4 guys up here.
