That isn’t buyout proof.
Anyway, E=NG regardless and my original point that the oilers won’t be able to hide behind their goons stands. Sooner or later Draisaitl is going to have to fight his own battles.

Yeah I have. Have you.
Cap hits of
$3,625,000 2019/20
$5,625,000. 2020/21
$4,125,000. 2021/22
$5,625,000. 2022/23
+ plus another 4 years of $650,000
Whoppeee they save $2,375,000, $375,000 $1,875,000, $375,000,
Two of those savings can’t even buy you ANY player in the league because they’re not even the league minimum.
That’s a grand total of $5,000,000 off $24,000,000 or 16% when typically contracts without massive signing bonuses is 1/2 (50%) the cap twice the term.
16% isn’t even half of 50%. They still pay 86% of the cap hit.
Plus... once the $650,000 starts kicking in they save a grand total of $2,500,000 against the cap, so they still get twice the term & an 8% discount on everything rather than 50%
HUGE SAVINGS!!
So for one year they get $2,375,000 relief & are cratered for the rest of the contract.
If you think that isn’t buyout proof, then please never ever negotiate contracts for the Flames.
I could care less if he plays for the Oilers or not he’s fossilized junk.
