He was solid in 16-17 too, except he played with Wideman all year which naturally hurt his numbers because Wideman had been "done" since before that season began. As soon as Wideman was swapped out with Stone, who's still not even a top four D, Brodie's results jumped back to what would be expected of a top defenseman and he was also the QB of a top ten power play in the NHL. And he was probably our best Dman in the 2017 playoffs, all this despite playing the left side which is NOT the side TJ Brodie belongs on.

Brodie had one bad year, 2017-18. We've ad nauseum gone over the many reasons why this season snowballed on him, but there's a reason the team chose to move him back to the top pair and right side rather than move him off the team. And that reason has been on full display all this season outside of one game in Brooklyn. TJ Brodie is a top pair right defenseman, and he hasn't even had puck luck on his side this year.
