With whole team going on prolonged losing streak, goaltenders were put in the tough spot by Hawks GM Pointman.

“The problem is not only with overall weak goaltending”, said Hawks GM. “The problem is that they can’t explode once in awhile and win a game. I saw much weaker goalies doing that. When you think about this streak think about this stat: AVERAGE saving percentage of Hawks goalies in last 9 games was 0,86 while the WORST performance by opponent’s goalie was 0,88 (with 0,94 average). Hawks definitely don’t have a line-up to make up for such an uneven goaltending.”

In 16 games so far opponent’s goaltenders won 1st star 4 times, 2nd star 1 time and 3rd star 2 times. Hawks goalies combined for zero awards.

“It would be stupid to expect Johnson or Raycroft to consistently outplay opponent’s goalie. But team could use some spark, some inspired play in one given game. With so many goalies at the top of CPHL star points race, it’s obvious that it’s rather easy for netminder to get this award. And they still can’t make it. That being said, Johnson is slowly coming into his own, posting respectable .910 in last game with superpower Flyers. We need him to emerge tomorrow in Atlanta.”
