I am the minority here, but I wouldn't give up completely on Smith.

Start Rittich for the next 10 games and take some pressure off Smith so he can find his own game. I believe it's more mental than anything. Last year, and at times this year, Smith looked good. There are no viable trade or UFA options at this point in time.
