As the OP to this, I’ll cop to apparently thinking it’s way worse of a word than it actually apparently is. Apologies to the thread!

In my defense, I’ve long thought it was really offensive based almost entirely on a plot point from a book that is going to date me horribly, being Scott Young’s hockey classic Scrubs on Skates. https://www.amazon.ca/Scrubs-Skates-.../dp/0771090889 Rosy the French Canadian kid lost his mind over being called a frog and equated it to being called a chink and that always stuck with me. Haha. Oh well.
