And.. it seems like that we do have more money to pay him if it comes down to it (thanks to David Struch for figuring it out)

B) I don't know, pay him 7.0 million dollars. I completely think that at this point he is just not wanting to sign with the Leafs and will sign lower than the rumoured 8.0 million.

C) Toffoli isn't doing overly well and maybe LA wants to re-tool rather than re-build. Bennett is a potential bust or can make a career... Neal may ask for a trade soon and fit in well with that big but slow roster.. LA is also really not in a great position to tear it all up and might get desperate here to try and remain relevant.
I don't think you are right about what Nylander wants, though he may well end up taking less than 8 (but that would be after missing a year). For sure Bob isn't taking a pay cut, unless it's to play in a major city with a shot at a cup. And Toffoli is 26, plays C and RW (RHS) and has about the same points as Bennett and Neal combined. Neal for the term he's on is the opposite of what LA needs, even if he rebounds with their current roster. Bennett they might want but he's not the centrepiece of a trade. They'd want young players.
