C. Why does LA do that deal? Bennett and Neal are underperforming at least in production, Bennett is an upcoming RFA and Neal older and more expensive (with term) than Toffoli. If LA is rebuilding, Neal is not a guy they want.

A) Insurance for a guy who is above 30 years old. A long-term deal is a risk for the Flames but you need to do it to keep the AAV down. Unless Bobrovsky thinks he can continue to play at MVP levels until he is 37, then you may be right. And.. it seems like that we do have more money to pay him if it comes down to it (thanks to David Struch for figuring it out)

B) I don't know, pay him 7.0 million dollars. I completely think that at this point he is just not wanting to sign with the Leafs and will sign lower than the rumoured 8.0 million.

C) Toffoli isn't doing overly well and maybe LA wants to re-tool rather than re-build. Bennett is a potential bust or can make a career... Neal may ask for a trade soon and fit in well with that big but slow roster.. LA is also really not in a great position to tear it all up and might get desperate here to try and remain relevant.
