Salary Cap $79,500,000
Cap Hit $77,631,108
Buyouts $2,404,167
Bonuses $1,540,000
Cap Space $1,560,358
And if you try to improve in goal (and also have to eat some Smith salary)? Or if you have to give Nylander 8?

What's the cap next year with Tkachuk in line for a raise, with Rittich in line for a raise and signing a good goalie (assuming you keep Smith this year)?

Other considerations - that D is far inferior to what we have now. And I don't especially want a guy who holds out (especially with his agent). I also don't know that Nylander can play centre (faceoffs are only one aspect). He played wing 80-90% of last year, with either Matthews, Kadri, Bozek and Moore. More importantly, about 77% of his even strength production was on the wing.
