Let's say the Flames trade Bennett (Holland Landing ON) Brodie (Chatham ON) + 2019 1st for Nylander. Perhaps Sam & TJ give the Leafs home town discounts when they re-sign in Toronto.

And, looking ahead to the signings next season...

2019-20 Calgary Flames:

Gaudreau 6,75 Monahan 6,375 Lindholm 4,85
Tkachuk 6,75 Nylander 6,5 Neal 5,75
Frolík 4,3 Backlund 5,35 Czarnik 1,25
Dubé ,778 Ryan 3,125 Jankowski 1,675
Mangiapane ,715 Foo ,900

Giordano 6,75 Andersson ,755
Hanifin 4,95 Hamonic 3,857
Välimäki ,894 Stone 3,5
Kylington ,730

Rittich 1,0

Salary Cap $82,000,000
Cap Hit $79,000,000
Buyouts 1,500,000
Bonuses $747,500
Cap Space $3,000,000

Regardless of the exact contract numbers for Nylander & Tkachuk, there is still plenty of cap space options to be made.

Calgary can still acquire a top goalie with the Frolík & Stone contracts coming off the books, that's nearly another 8 million right there.
The problem with all that (aside from the super high price in assets) is signing him this year, which still needs to happen when he's traded. Plus of course losing a top 4 Dman for a centre/winger who's not played a lot of centre.
