I would disagree that it is a competition or sport, as we define those. I was part of the panel to be a Judge in the Penticton Peach Festival. There was subtle and not so subtle pressure from the top down on who we should vote for. My GF at the time was a former Miss Canada contestant, and told me this was common in pageants she participated in.
