Tre picked Brodie over Hamilton to be on our top pair, which is presently dynamite. He has 9 points in 15 playoff games and has arguably been our best player in both those playoffs. He will be only 30 years old when his deal ends, and in Dman terms this may mean he will be entering his prime not unlike Giordano. If / When Giordano truly declines he will be looked upon as the elder statesman of our blue line.
He is a core piece. One statistically forgettable year mostly spent dragging around the corpse of Dennis Wideman and one inconsistent off-year playing again on the wrong side of the ice and with the wrong partner doesn't change that. I fully expect a Valimaki-Brodie pair someday.
