KINGS RETHRONED

After losing two games over the weekend with GM icarus away in Toronto, the Los Angeles Kings regained form by defeating the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning 4-0 on Monday.

A rested Dan Cloutier was triumphant in his return to LA's net, stopping all 22 shots he faced. (Mika Noronen had played in the two weekend games.)

The Kings attack was relentless, throwing 33 shots towards John Grahame. 17 of those shots came in the first period alone. Jonathan Girard, Jeff Halpern, and Scott Gomez each had a goal and an assist. P.J. Axelsson scored the other goal for the Kings, his first non-shorthanded goal of the season.

The game was a scrappy one, and got especially rough after Tomas Holmstrom injured Mats Lindgren with an errant high stick in the third period.

In the AHL, Manchester defeated Springfield 11-3. Ilkka Pikkarainen's four point night boosted him to the top of the minors scoring leaders, second only to a player who has somehow played more than twice as many games as everyone else.

The Kings face the Islanders tomorrow.
