I say have them each start five and go from there. That still comes close to matching the number of starts Rittich had in quick succession last year when Smith went down, but comes with less risk of completely alienating Smith. Hopefully they are both playing well and will continue to push each other over the season. I know a number of posters are ready to drive Mike Smith back to Arizona in their own cars, but it is likely the Flames will still need him at some point—various points—this year. Why not maximize the team's options by trying to get both goalies going at the same time?
