Our Bidco in 1988 raised 1 million mostly private donations and selling pins..3.3 million in 2018 dollars. We'll spend about 30 million on the bid exploration and Bidco, all tax funded. And some how they're baffled when people assume we will go over budget.
Everybody who wouldn't mind chipping in a few bucks a month should have already done so.
I think what made 1988 special was that we had literally no amateur athletic facilities or infrastructure that made us stand out. We added almost everything. Now we're adding almost nothing. Everything about 1988 was entrepreneurial. Even the federal government created money from making loonies. Everything about 2026 is getting tax money back.
