Valimaki, on the video I saw, took one stride and glided into him.
Cole's hit seemed to have more of a hit "through" the player, while Valimaki's was more of a hit "into" the player.
Cole hit high near head vs. Valimaki into chest.
Cole's hit was, arguably, "violent" while Valimaki's was more to separate the player from the puck.
I can understand why Avs fans would be mad that the call, but don't think it is horse####.

Avs player didn't get demolished and didn't even end up on the ice. Valimaki hit him but didn't destroy him. I think if Valimaki was flying into that hit it should be a 5 minute penalty too. Valimaki made what was IMO a clean hit and the kind of hit we should embrace if we want physicality in hockey at all. It was awesome.
