No Calgary mayor has ran in 5 elections in over 60 years, and Duerr is the only one to run in 4 elections since the term of office was extended to 3 years in 1971.
No one looks back on the 1988 Games as Ross Alger's legacy even though he was the mayor when Calgary bid.
