Your history is ignoring the last Hartley year, which was miserable. And it's glossing over GG's first year a bit, where they lost to the Ducks, who went to the WCF (albeit they only had to beat Edmonton after Calgary). At that point I figured they were about where they should be given that 14-15 was a complete aberration.
Yes, this team is pretty much done rebuilding but I'm pretty sure Treliving expected a goalie to emerge out of Gillies/Parsons. He's made a bunch of fairly reasonable goalie moves as interim measures but for one reason or another they just haven't worked. Goalies are simply a crapshoot.
Yeah, he went all-in on a coach. I don't know any other way to hire one, though. I think Sutter would have been ideal, but I don't know that he was actually available (I take his post-Peters statements with a grain of salt, frankly).
4 games in Peters was brilliant. Now he's an idiot, I guess.
