I guess... you are crazy.
So, just to be clear, the only reason why the US has not invaded us is either because the rest of the world isn't under water, or because other states exist...
Which, I guess if you considered the rest of the world a balance of power, maybe... but according to your "The Americans are coming, the Americans are coming!" theory, the rest of the world isn't a balance of power, because they'll just do whatever they want anyway. So, that begs the question, why haven't they just occupied Canada already? International repercussions? But they're the Hedgemonic superpower who can do whatever they want... thus I think that there are other factors at play here for why Canada has remained soveriegn. But, if you think it's because the rest of the world isn't under water, that's cool. Hey, Americans probably can't swim in this far off galaxy where logic doesn't exist that you're posting from, right?
What would they do? Nuke us? Risk annihilating all existance to conquer the population of New York? Because I don't see Canada willing to become a 53rd state. If history was to teach us anything, it would be that chances are we'll burn down their whitehouse... but then again, history is completely useless, so there goes that theory.
If the US was to colonize Canada, don't you think there would be negative repercussions? Do you think Canada would just allow the US to take over? If anything, we (currently...) have the Quebecois on our side, and we all know what great terrorists they can make. Don't you think the US would consider this, and while I do not agree with the majority of US foreign policies, they could've invaded us many of times but trying to colonize an industrialized state is futile, at best. Maybe it's the Liberal (in the International Relations sense) in me that's telling me, logically, a balanced relationship strengthened by trade would make the most sense.
Either than that, your theory is cute...

Here, maybe you'll understand better if I bold the title of the thread for you... "
If Canada Was The Only Country In The World..."
How's this for condescending:
