It sure is the forward's fault if both of them skate right by the puck on an easy break out and let the attacker go right by them.
The defensemen are skating up ice to join a rush and hope to create some offense. Nobody is expecting the puck to be turned over there. That's sloppy hockey by both Backlund and Tkachuk.
