the guys on my hockey team were chatting about this after a game recently.


what i would do depends a lot on the amount of the winnings


if it was a modest amount my wife and i wouldn't go crazy or anything - likely invest most of it and just do a few trips or something like that. maybe get her a new car if she wanted one.



if the amount of $ was nuts (where you could spend a bunch and still sock a lot away so you were set for life) one of the things we would do is get a big property where my wife and i could build our 'dream house' and the property would need to be big enough that i could also put my own hockey rink on it. center ice would have my mens team hockey logo in the ice. we'd have a home change room that would be decked out and each guy would have his own stall where he could leave his gear if he liked. i'd make sure that every league game my men's team played would be at 'my' rink. the change rooms would have a stocked beer fridge so both teams could enjoy some beverages before/after the game. i'd also pay a photographer to somehow get a 360 degree shot of inside the dome during a flames game and then get that printed onto a massive canvas that would hang from the ceiling inside the rink - so every time we took to the ice it would be like we were on the ice in the dome at a flames game - that would be awesome!


i'd also want to give a helping hand to some friends and family and likely setup some kind of bursary/scholarship fund.
