Legitimately, I don't know how long Connor puts up with this. He's already showed signs of cracking this year, and there are no signs that any part of their roster is holding much back. This is going to get much worse for Connor before the season is up.

They don't have the assets (outside of picks) for the players they need, don't have the cap space to sign them, and have shown no ability to develop themselves. The closest thing they have to a valuable piece they could use this year is Bear... and the closest they have to improving their forward depth is in the OHL. Connor must see all of this and have a pretty clear idea of where his career could go.

Does he demand a trade? Does he publicly shame his management into making roster moves? Can they even make the moves they need to? Does ownership ever let go of the old boys club sinking their franchise? Stay tuned.
He's also the Captain, and also knows that he is the best chance for the Oilers to win. If McLellan wants to play him 26 minutes, he will accept it, because he knows as soon as he is off the ice, the Oilers turn into an ECHL team. Management blew the ELC years and now are in cap hell with nowhere to go but further down.

By and large he's been taking it like a champ. He's no dummy. We may look back at him a few years down the line after he demands a trade and he becomes similar to Hall in becoming even greater outside the Oilers stench and the dark years will be forever be stories of lore.

Remember, he didn't pick this.
