Maybe this game slows down the cry to sell the farm for a new goalie. Not that I’m saying Rittich is the answer, but until you learn to play something resembling a sound defensive game there’s really no point.
The team has been up and down so no reason to panic. The last 41 minutes of the Colorado game show how this team can play. But good teams can do that consistently and don’t fail to even show up on the bad nights. So Flames still not a good team yet.
Scorp is right. Hanifin was bad tonight and hasn’t been great to start the year but he is a player who you know is going to get better. His contract would certainly say so.
Neal has had no positive impact on this team through 9 games. I doubt the wheels have fallen off already for him so no reason to panic. But when you sign a UFA to their retirement contract you better be prepared for some serious risk.
I don’t hate on Brodie as much as some. His bad plays are truly awful and seem to end up in the back of the net a lot, but he has sandwiches those gaffes with some good hockey this year too.
But to me the story of the season is the top line losing the 5 on 5 battle so far. Flames going nowhere if that continues.
