I would say the 2014-15 Flames were a better "defensive" team than the Ducks, who btw still had Nick Bonino instead of Ryan Kesler as their shutdown center and a very green blue line.

I don't really want to get into a debate about which team was better defensively. We can say the Flames.
My main point was that Hiller was not coming from a team with questionable defensive play. The Ducks were top ten in goals and shots allowed two years running before moving Hiller.
