Wild Outclass The ‘Canes
If you travel a long enough line eventually the bubble has to burst. Not only did the Minnesota Wild burst that bubble, they made a festive occasion out of it. The closest the ‘Canes come last night to matching the visiting Wild was the opening face-off between Stephane Yelle and Scott Gomez. Scott Gomez clearly won the draw, passed by Yelle and made a beautiful pass to his streaking winger Simon Gagne for the clear breakaway. Although Gagne wasn’t able to beat the post on the opening play that was the most resistence the ‘Canes offered the Wild the rest of the night.
Kim Johnsson, Freddy Meyer, Joel Kwiatkowski, Joe Sakic, Matt Cullen and Tomas Kaberle all took turns lighting the lamp on the isolated ‘Canes goaltenders. Both David Aebischer and Craig Anderson seen action last night as the Wild racked up an amazing 40 shots on the supposedly stingiest defence in the league.
The Wild’s Matt Cullen enjoyd a career game as the 3rd line winger racked up a 5 points night to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 6-2 victory of the red hot Hurricanes.
