McAvoy kept his elbow tucked, and he doesn't take extra strides. Yeah the puck isn't there - that's interference. If you're going to be 5 ft 9 and play in the NHL, this is going to happen once in a while.

elbow was far from tucked. The camera in the corner got a great angle. Call it interference, call it elbowing. It was a penalty. The question is if the league sees it as a blow to the head.
