It might be hard to pay Tkachuk less than $7-8M next summer if he keeps up this scoring pace and continues to be the emotional leader for this team. Unless something happens with Rittich or Gillies this year I see Treliving looking to once again shake up the crease next summer and either take a run at Bobrovsky or swing a trade for a high prices starter.
It wouldn’t be the same scenario as Raymond or Brouwer where they were both useless as Frolik has been good when healthy for the Flames. If he continues to play 4th line minutes I do believe his 4.2M cap hit for one more year would be untradeable which would lead to a buyout.
