That was my point though. Call it Music Hall of Fame, then it's fine. But wait, we do have Grammy Awards, American Music Awards and Much Music Awards and some other awards for that already...
Rock'n'Roll was never about "allmusic"...
I get it, RRHF wants to stay relevant and keep putting up their induction ceremonies etc., and rock is not nearly as popular as it was 30-40 years ago, so they make up this concept of "allmusic", "if you think it's rock, then it is". But it's all BS to those who like real rock music.
Co-incidentally, my wife just gave me RRHF complete concert performances set on DVD's for my birthday (I know, I know, we still have a DVD player). With rare exceptions for great "outsider-contributors", most of the inductees, past and recent, were real rockers. And you can see how the trend was starting to shift to pop-music, funk and soul musicians. I love Al Green and Marvin Gaye, but not as rockers; that's not even right. They were soul/R'n'B singers! But even for this trend, this current list is a big stretch and deviation from it, I think. Anyway, no harm done to anyone, I suppose. After all, RRHF is a fully-controlled private enterprise. As long as viewers pay for the show, it's fine.
