They look pretty good offensively, but their defence has been sloppy with too many odd-man rushes and high-quality scoring chances given up in both of these games. Smith has been a little shaky as well, which hasn't helped. They've also had some bad luck (puck bouncing over Neal's stick, Johnny losing his stick in the defensive zone, phantom penalty call on Stone resulting in the 5 on 3.)
Honestly, with a new coaching staff, new systems and lots of turnover from last year, I think it's gonna take them a few games to find their groove. As painful as these two games have been, I'm still confident they'll get it together. The PP already looks better tonight, the forecheck has been really good, and they've looked dominant at times and have generated plenty of great scoring chances.
They just need to tighten up the defensive mistakes and find their confidence around the net. I noticed a few plays tonight where they're making one too many passes, or passing it off when they should be shooting (Neal, I'm lookin' at you).
