Well, that sucked. All offseason Peters talked about playing fast. Tonight, the Flames played fast like they were stuck in quicksand. Are the Flames tired? Was training camp that tough? They certainly looked like it tonight.
The PP was horrible, a serious momentum killer. The Flames could not enter the offensive zone with possession on the PP.
Motte walked around Stone as if Stone was a statue. I’ve long thought he’s replacement level and he sure looked it during that sequence. I think Stone’ll need to be pretty protected this season. If it’s still possible to get a conditional 6th rounder for him, do it (just my opinion).
I liked the Tkachuk - Backlund - Czarnik line and I also liked Neal on the top line.
I also think Hanifin is awesome. I’m a huge fan.
