I think Brodie could be that top pairing RD for the Leafs, if he promises to re-sign with them after his current deal.
I would even consider Nylander for Giordano straight up.
I would rank Nylander's contract priority and his position in the core as 5th, after Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, and Hanifin.

I don't see the fit
Brodie for Nylander makes zero sense from the Leafs POV. YOu may want to think he could be a top pairing D for them but he hasn't shown that to this point and has similar flaws to another guy they have (Gardiner)
They probably also wouldn't do Gio for Nylander given the relative ages, but ironically that deal would probably also make the Flames worse, at least for now.
The bottom line is that the Flames don't really need Nylander, to the point that they would pay the necessary price.
