Gilles and Parsons have potential for sure, possibly could be the future of this team.
But this is a team that has incredible potential and is looking like a team hungry to win RIGHT NOW.
Why wait 3 more years and let the good value contracts burn up?
Plus having an excess of forward and defence, depth and prospects makes a blockbuster trade seem realistic.
You have your core pieces to this team, but in the mean time you still have players like Bennett, Jankowski, Frolik, Andersson, Kylington, Klimchuck, Gillies, etc. being pushed down the line up when they all still have proven value or potential to be better with more ice time.
Let's say Columbus is sitting 12th in the East come Christmas time. I could see a trade similar to the Karlsson trade in terms of value.
A big package of picks and B level prospects/players
or
A couple higher end players/picks
